Videoproduction

One of the coolest things about making videos for me is how much photography plays a part. When I’m shooting, I start by thinking like a photographer: getting the composition right, setting up the lighting, creating the overall vibe, and trying to tell a story with just a single frame.

Then, after that first step, the storytelling keeps going through movement – the camera or the actors moving around. That’s when things get really interesting. For me, making videos is a bit like composing music. You start with the basic photography stuff, and then you use rhythm and pace to give the video its own style. And of course, you gotta make sure everything flows together in the editing.

I love the special visual language of video. It’s universal, but it can also be really personal. A video about a Red Bull event is totally different from one about polar bears, but both can use visuals to tell a story and create a feeling. It’s like music – you might not be able to explain why you like a melody or a harmony, but it just works. That’s the kind of magic I’m always trying to capture in my videos.
